Hair By Lauren 1 year on
As it’s coming up to 1 year since opening Hair by Lauren i wanted to do a slightly more personal blog, reflecting on my first year being self employed💗
We started Hair by Lauren on January 4th 2024, I had one of my longest clients for her hair colour and cut and blowdry first, she specifically wanted to be my first client in my own space and I’ve been doing her hair since i was 17 so this was so lovely to have her with me, All of my clients mean the world to me, I am so incredibly lucky to have such wonderful clients who have been with me and supported me from when I’d just began my hairdressing career to now seeing more new faces and getting to build my clientele further.
2024 hasn’t come without its challenges, opening a business and navigating stock, expenses and balancing cashflow is tricky when its your first time doing it, luckily i have an amazing brother with his very helpful Accounting skills and my partner who has supported me greatly over the last year ( not forgetting our little doggie Jota – some of you might’ve met her at the salon when she’s on her apprenticeship! ) 😜
To all my clients i want to say the biggest thankyou, you have all supported me, watched me grow as a hairdresser and as a person, We’ve gone through big life events together, from getting puppies, getting married, having a baby to going through sad times, deaths, funerals and moments where we just need to sit and listen to each other for a while, lots of hugs, high fives, laughs and cries, its been a rollercoaster 13 years but i love every second of it and so grateful i get to continue my hairdressing career with all of you.
Opening a business was terrifying, I was worried my clients wouldn’t follow me or not be able to find me in my new location but I really didn’t need to worry. As the year has gone on I am gaining more new clients and opening more days, getting busier every week and getting to do new hair and expand my techniques more and more.
I’ve discovered i have a real passion for soft blended highlights and grey blending, using new techniques i’ve learnt I am able to offer services and colours i haven’t before and help my clients to achieve the soft blended effects to make sure they’re always feeling fresh and happy with their hair. Cutting has always been one of my favorite things to do, there are so many different ways you can cut, and not one of my haircuts is ever the same- each client has their own individual haircut.
First week of February i am totally revamping the salon which I’m very excited about , we will have a new basin with a massage function, all my usual teas, coffees and drinks, a hot towel warmer so you can really relax with your hair wash and we’re in the cutest location! – what more could you want? 💗
lets all have the best festive period, come into my little Christmas grotto and feel totally relaxed and spoilt 😍
